About Justin Tucker

Justin Tucker | Joomla Guru | Drupal Developer | Oklahoma Drupal DevelopmentThank you for your interest in my services.  You can see a more formal resume here, or look at my testimonials and portfolio pages.

I originally come from a business background with an emphasis in finance.  This coupled with a working knowledge of marketing and open source platforms allows me to offer a unique blend of benefits.  I naturally employ "big picture" thinking as to how your online presence will effect your bottom line.

Most web developers could care less about your business plan and how your online presence effects your bottom dollar. Most care only about making a web page show like the client wants.  My thinking goes beyond this.  A website should be a living breathing tool, with flexibility to adapt in a scalable way to changes within your target market. Most times I am a one man band taking on projects as I can.  I have many resources and partnerships I've forged over the years with Graphic Designers other Developers and the like.

Strengths & Weaknesses

I'm not a perfect being and so in keeping with being straight forward and transparent I'll lay out where I'm strong and where I'm not.

Strengths

My core strengths lie in the overall conceptual architecture of a web based application.  I'm good with laying out the best method to pursue to make your requests come to life, keeping in mind such things as workflows, efficiency, website usability and website management.  Use case examples would be Intranets, client management systems, shopping carts, robust blogs or forums ect...  Basically 'functional' items of a website.

I also do well at template conversions.  This is when a graphic designer has a .psd file and wants it turned into a template for a certain CMS.

Finally, because I'm a Finance major, I'm always asking myself "How can this element of the website make the client more money?".  I've found this to be a bit of a deviation from most developers that only speak techno jargon the average bear can not understand.

Weaknesses

My weaknesses would be in flash, custom java scripting, and design or branding.  I have the tools to make logos, and templates and I certainly do, and usually it is nice design or logo - HOWEVER, I'll concede that I do not have a 'design eye'.  I know this because I've worked with some graphic designers who clearly see the world in a different and artistic way, not to mention some have degrees in the area.

For designing a website I typically ask the client to provide other websites they like the look of to use as influence.  So if you are needing a total branding solution for your company (includes everything from corporate logo, to colors, to template, to coffee mugs) I have two partners I work with to do this.  They do amazing work and I work side by side with them.  If you want to contact them directly please do so - be sure to tell them I sent you ;)

1.)  HeadstormStudios.com

2.)  DesignTunnel.com

Development Philosophy:

I do not burden clients with proprietary systems one can not realistically use or manage.  Solutions like this forces one into paying long-term IT costs when expected website changes are needed. This is not to mention inheriting all the pitfalls that open source solutions has already overcome.   Design and development should be based around simplicity and open source platforms.  This method promotes efficiency and webmaster independence.

What Else Do I Do?

Sometimes I'll play the drums dressed as cookie monster, pulled behind a truck at Halloween parades in down town Oklahoma City.

... so I'm not a total geek ;)
